AHEC Career Enhancement Scholars (ACES)

Applications are due by September 15 every year

ACES is a year-long high school career preparation program that provides opportunities for students with a strong desire to pursue a career in health care.  The program is designed for multi-year participation.  The longer the student is involved, the more they get out of it and the better our relationship grows!

Students selected for the ACES program receive:

  • Portfolio to track activities

  • One-on-one career counseling session

  • Networking with students from across the metro and other counties

  • Networking with health professionals

  • Visits to health profession training programs and schools

  • Leadership development

  • Volunteer opportunities

  • Letters of recommendation

This is a competitive program and up to 45 students from the county are accepted each year.  Applications may be summited throughout the year but the program runs September - April each year.  Along with the application, students must have a 3.0 minimum GPA, a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or community member, and provide a short essay on their health career interest.

Workshops are held one Saturday a month from October - April.
